Liebster X2

Sunday, 27 July 2014
I have recently been nominated by the lovely Jane Aliesina of be fearless (here) to do the Liebster Award Tag! This is my second time completing this tag you can read my first one (here). For that reason though I have decided to only answer the questions and not nominate any new bloggers for the award but be sure to check out everyone Jane nominated and everyone I nominated in my last Liebster award post!

On to the questions!!!

1. What is your favourite time of the year and why?
It seems that as one season is ending the upcoming season is always my favourite. So right now I would say Fall and Winter….but ask me mid February and I would be saying Spring and Summer haha!

2. What made you start blogging?
I have always loved watching beauty/fashion/lifestyle type videos on youtube and reading those types of blogs. I finally decided to start writing my own blog when I felt like I did not have enough going on in my life and this would be a fun thing to do!

3. Who inspires you ( in any way, e.g. to be a better person, style inspirations, do things that you never thought of)?
There are so many people, real and  fictional, that I find inspiring. However I think at the top of my list would be my mother, as cheesy as that is :)

4. What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to blog, read blogs, go on twitter, watch youtube videos, watch shows/movies on Netflix…..and basically spend a whole lot of time on my computer! haha I do also like reading books, walking my dog and going swimming though :)

5. Where was your most memorable holiday?
It would either be going to Maine with my Mom or going to Mexico with my Mom. (If you haven’t already guessed, I spend a lot of time with my Mom).

6. Do you have any siblings?
Yup, I have an older brother and sister.

7. Are you a cook it yourself or a takeaway person?
I would love to say that I’m a cook it “yourself” but that would be, unfortunately, a lie. I’m the queen of take aways.

8. If you could be an animal, which one would you be?
I would like to fly like a bird, or swim like a fish, or run really fast like a cheetah.

9. How many languages do you speak?
I speak English (hopefully), French fairly well and sort of, but not really, Spanish.
10. Any plans for this summer vacation?
Some but I’m not much of a planer.

11. Have you skydived? If not, would you?
No, definitely not! haha. I have a fear of heights (I actually did a post on this here) and hate the feeling of falling so I do not think I will be partaking in this activity any time soon!

I would like to thank Jane once again for nominating me you asked great questions and I had so much fun answering them!

Warm Mugs and Hugs

Wednesday, 23 July 2014

I am sitting down with some hot chocolate in hand ready to do something a bit different, sharing some of my current worries.

To be honest I’m at a weird time in my life. This is my last summer before I transition off to a university that's a thousand kilometers away from home and so many questions keep swirling around in my mind….

Did I pick the right…. residence?....scheduled?....program?
Am I going to….fit in? it?....have any friends?
Am I ready?

Sometimes the prospect of all this change excites me and others scares me to death...

Then I try to remember that I’m over thinking things… that worrying about something isn’t going to solve anything...I will never know untill I try and it’s not the end of the world if I don’t like it either. There are endless twist and turns in life and there is no one single path.

And in the mean time, I can look forward to all the things I still have planned for this summer and enjoy every moment!

Sometimes we all need a warm hug on a cold day, even if it’s the middle of summer! and thats ok :)

(haha my attempt at posing with a mug!)

Summer Foundation Essentials

Sunday, 20 July 2014

This summer I’ve noticed that I seem to have formed a group of products that I would crown my summer foundation essentials. In the summer I want great coverage with a light weight feel and these products help me acheive just that.

On days when my skin is very uneven/dry or if I know it will be so hot oudtside that my makeup will slide right off my face the second I walk out the door I like to use a primer. I’ve found that the  Arbonne Makeup Primer works well with my skin.

Next I squirt a small drop of foundation onto the back of my hand and then dap two dots onto my forehead,  one on my nose, two on each cheek and one on my chin and blend. I love Lancome’s Teint Miracle Foundation because it gives the skin a glowy effect and the SPF 15 is perfect for summer.

Then I cover up any red spots with  the green corrector in the Lise Watier Portfolio Correctors. Followed by Lancome’s Teint Miracle Pen Concealer to blend it into my skin. However if my skin is not so bad I may just use the concealer pen or no concealer at all.

Lastly I use a fluffy Ecotools brush to ligthly dust  Maybelline’s Dream Wonder Powder on my forhead, down my nose and on my chin.

What are your go to summer foundation products or do you bother with foundation at all in the summer?

Top 5 Summer Sun Protection Tips

Thursday, 17 July 2014

I’m sure I’m not the only one enjoying Summer! I love to take advantage of the warmer weather and spend more time outside. Unfortunately the sun’s rays can be very damaging so with that in mind I’ve decided to share with you my top 5 sun protection tips!

1. Sunscreen. While this may not be obvious (and at the risk of sounding like a mother)  it is important to remember to reapply often and especially after sweating, swimming or towel drying. Also don’t forget to slather that sunscreen on commonly forgotten areas like the tops of your ears. Recently I’ve been loving using  the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen on my body and the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Sunscreen on my face.

2. Wear a hat. Wearing hat along with sunscreen is one of the best ways to protect the sensitive skin of your face from a sunburn, skin cancer and premature aging.  I would suggest using a wide brimmed hat for extra sun protection.

3. Sunglasses. Sunglasses not only make it easier for you to see on sunny days but also help to protect your eyes from the damaging effects of the sun. Also, larger lenses help give added sun protection to the sensitive skin around the eyes.

4. Use a foundation with SPF. In the summer I prefer to use a lighter weight foundation but as I am decided which foundation to pick I am also looking for one with SPF. I think it is important to remember though that often the SPF of foundations/ tinted moisturizers/ BB or CC creams is not very high and on days spent out in the sun it is best to also use a sunscreen. Lately I have been loving the Lancome Teint Miracle with SPF 15.

5. U.V. rays are usually strongest between 10:00am and 4:00pm. If possible it is best to avoid outdoor activities between these times, even on cloudy days.

If you have anymore tips I would love to read them in the comments!

Here’s a silly selfie of myself haha.
Hope you have a safe and fun summer :)

Haul: Forever 21/ American Apparel/ Topshop

Thursday, 3 July 2014

Prior to this haul I could not say that I owned anything in the way of a high waisted skirt or crop top. Can you believe it? They seem to be the summer essentials!

Floral Skirt - American Apparel
White Crop Top - American Apparel

Navy Blue Skirt - Forever 21

Loose White Crop Top - Forever 21
I bought this second white crop top thinking that it was more casual and would go well with high waisted shorts. Also I thought it would be cooler on those super hot Summer days!

Black Dress - Topshop
I did not origanly set out to find a great conservative black dress for any occasion...but I think I found it haha.

I hope you had a lovely June and the July will be even better!
